AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE SALARY OF THE MAYOR OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:
Section 1: Hereafter the salary of the Mayor of Jonesboro, Arkansas shall be the sum of Four Hundred Sixteen and 65/100 Dollars ($416.65) per month, beginning on the First day of January, 1963.
Section 2: All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
Section 3: It is found and declared by the City Council that due to the increased work load upon the Mayor of this City and the normal increase in living expenses, the present salary for the Mayor’s position is vastly inadequate and requires such Mayor to spend personal funds for public business; therefore, an emergency exists and this Ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety, it shall take effect immediately upon its passage and adoption.
PASSED and ADOPTED this 17th day of December, 1962.
