AN ORDINANCE TO PROHIBIT UNAUTHORIZED VEHICULAR TRAFFIC ON OR NEAR AIRPORT RUNWAYS; TO PROVIDE PENALTIES FOR VIOLATION THEREOF

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:
 
Section 1: That the Code of Ordinances of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas is hereby amended by adding a section to be numbered 3-4 which said section reads as follows:
 
"It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to operate or park any vehicle on or within fifty feet of any aircraft runway or taxiway of the Jonesboro Municipal Airport without prior authorization of the Municipal Airport Commission or its agent. Provided, however, that such restriction shall not apply to any of such areas as may be specifically marked or laid out for temporary or permanent use by vehicles."
 
Section 2: Any person, firm or corporation violating the provisions of this Ordinance shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and fined in any sum not to exceed Twenty Five Dollars (25.00) for each such offense.
 
Section 3: It is found and declared by the City Council that the increasing unauthorized use of the runways, taxiways, and adjacent areas of the Municipal Airport by vehicles is creating a hazard to life and property, and an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this Ordinance being necessary for the preservation of public peace, health and safety, shall take effect from and after its passage and approval.
 
PASSED and ADOPTED this 6th day of January, 1964.
