RESOLUTION TO LEVY A 1 MILL TAX ON ALL REAL AND PERSONAL PROPERTY FOR THE FIREMEN’S PENSION AND RELIEF FUND

WHEREAS: The fully organized, qualified, constituted and acting board of Trustees of the Firemen’s Pension and Relief Fund of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, have enacted and caused to be certified to the City Clerk of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas a resolution finding that the sum of $7,735.00 is necessary to discharge the functions of said Board During the year 1959, and

WHEREAS: The City Council doth hereby approve said aforementioned resolution and certificate, and

WHEREAS, The City Council doth hereby find that the total assessed value of the property both real and personal, within the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, is the sum of $7,735,230.00 and

WHEREAS, The City Council doth find that in order to raise said sum of $7,735.00 it is necessary to levy a tax of one (1) mill per dollar of assessed valuation and that the amount to be raised by said tax will not fully cover the certified needs have said Board of Trustees.

NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:

(1) That there be, and there is hereby levied on all real and personal property within the City of Jonesboro, a tax of one (1) mill on each dollar of assessed valuation of all real and personal property lying and situated within the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas for the year 1958 to be collected in the year 1959 and that the funds realized therefrom be devoted to the purpose set out in the Firemen’s Pension and Relief Acts and Ordinances.

(2) That the County Clerk of Craighead County, Arkansas be and he is hereby authorized and directed to extend said tax herein described upon the tax books and that the same be collected in the same manner as other property taxes are collected.

(3) That the City Clerk is hereby directed to spread this resolution upon the Minute Books of the City and to certify a copy of the same to the County Clerk...
