AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION 9-1 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, THE SAME DWELLING WITH THE ADOPTION OF STANDARD FIRE PREVENTION CODE

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:

Section 1: That Section 9-1 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, is amended as follows:

There is hereby adopted by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, for the purpose of prescribing regulations governing conditions hazardous to life and property from fire or explosion, that certain Code known as the Standard Fire Prevention Code being particularly the 1982 Edition thereof and the whole thereof, save and except such portions as are hereinafter deleted, modified or amended of which Code not less than three (3) copies have been and now are filed in the office of the Fire Marshall of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, and the same are hereby adopted and incorporated as fully as is set out at length herein, and from the date in which this Section shall take effect, the provisions thereof shall be controlling within the municipal boundaries of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas.

Section 2: Chapter 2, Board of Appeals on adjustment, contained within the Standard Fire Prevention Code, 1982 Edition are hereby deleted and excluded and shall have no effect within the municipal limits of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas.

Section 3: all ordinances and/or parts of ordinances in conflict here within are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.

Section 4: It is hereby found and declared by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, that the Standard Fire Prevention Code should be amended to provide that the 1982 Edition should be enacted by the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, and therefore, this ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance shall take effect and be in full force from and after its passage and approva...
