CITY COUNCIL MINUTES - JULY 3, 2000

The Jonesboro City Council met Monday, July 3, 2000 at 6:30 p.m. A full quorum was in attendance. Present were: Mayor Hubert Brodell, City Clerk Donna Jackson, City Attorney Phillip Crego, and 8 council members. Those members were: Tate, McCall, Young, Crockett, Rorex, Rega, Province, and Roddy. Councilmen Kelton, Copeland, Moore, and Perrin were unable to attend.

Councilman Rorex moved, seconded by Councilman Young to approve the minutes, from June 19, 2000 as provided earlier. A voice vote was taken resulting in all members voting aye. Those members voting aye were: Tate, McCall, Young, Crockett, Rorex, Rega, Province, and Roddy.

Councilman Tate offered the following ordinance for first reading:

ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE 954, THE ZONING ORDINANCE TO REZONE FROM RESIDENTIAL (R-3) TO COMMERCIAL (C-3) LOCATED AT 100 W. FORREST STREET. (MAX DACUS JR.)

Councilman Tate moved, seconded by Councilman Young to suspend the rules and place on second reading. A voice vote was taken resulting in all members voting aye. Those members were: Tate, McCall, Young, Crockett, Rorex, Rega, Province, and Roddy.

Councilman Young offered the following ordinance for first reading:

ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE 954, THE ZONING ORDINANCE TO REZONE FROM RESIDENTIAL (R-3) TO COMMERCIAL (C-3) LOCATED AT 100 W. FORREST STREET. (MACK FLEMING)

Councilman Crockett moved, seconded by Councilman Rorex to suspend the rules and place on second reading. A voice vote was taken resulting in all members voting aye. Those members were: Tate, McCall, Young, Crockett, Rorex, Rega, Province, and Roddy.

Mr. Keith Carle addressed Council regarding the 1% Sales and Use Tax and Mosquito Control. He stated he had misunderstood the redistricting of ward boundaries and did not discuss that issue. Mr. Carle stated of the $550,000 designated for mosquito control only $380,000 was used. He contended th...
