AN ORDINANCE TO WAIVE BIDDING REQUIREMENTS FOR THE PURCHASE OF A FIRE TRUCK AND EQUIPMENT

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:

 

SECTION 1:   The City Council finds and declares that there is a need to purchase a used 1979 Mack custom fire truck with 1000 G P M Waterous pump and 500 gallon booster tank, serial number CF685F2080, to be used by the Jonesboro Fire Department.

 

SECTION 2:   Said fire truck may be purchased from Fire Master Fire Apparatus, Inc. - Springfield, Mo. for the sum of $70,000.00 undelivered.  The fire truck will also contain the following equipment for the additional sum of $22,329.00:  4) Scott Model 2.2 breathing apparatus less cases; 4) Scott 30 minute aluminum spare cylinders; 2) Akron #4615 Maurader 1 ½" nozzles; 3) Akron  #2730  2 ½ “ nozzles; 600 feet 1 ½ “ double jacket Neidner fire hose;  900 feet  2 ½" double jacket Neidner fire hose; 1800 feet 3" double jacket Neidner fire hose; and 1000 feet 5" double jacket Neidner supply  hose.  The City Purchasing Agent is hereby authorized to purchase the above item(s).

 

SECTION 3:  Said fire truck will be paid from the unappropriated sales tax monies collected by the City of Jonesboro.

 

SECTION 4:   The City Council finds and declares that the immediate purchase of the above described item(s) is necessary for the health and welfare of the citizens of Jonesboro.  Therefore, an emergency is hereby declared to exist, and the City Council hereby waives of the usual bidding requirements and this Ordinance shall take effect and be in full force from and after its passage and approval.
