AN ORDINANCE TO WAIVE COMPETITIVE BIDDING AND AUTHORIZE PURCHASE OF CULVERT WORK ON WILLOW ROAD FOR THE CITY OF JONESBORO AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:
SECTION 1: That the Street Department needs to purchase eighty four (84) feet of culvert to be installed on Willow Road (labor included), specifically to repair damage caused by recent rains and floods.
SECTION 2: That such Culvert work may be purchased from Jonesboro Concrete Pipe of Jonesboro, Arkansas for the sum of $7,617.00 (tax incl.).
SECTION 3: That the City Council, in accord with the terms of A.C.A. 14-58-302 (2) (B) hereby waives the requirement of competitive bidding and districts the Purchasing Officer to purchase the above described work for the price set forth in Section 2 above. Said amount shall be paid by money from the Street Fund - Street Repairs line item in the Street Department budget.
SECTION 4: It is further found that due to the immediate need to acquire the above repairs, an emergency is declared to exist and this ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety shall take effect from and after its approval.
