The City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, met in regular session on the above named dated at 7:30 p.m. in the City Hall. There were present Mayor, City Clerk, City Attorney and the following named Councilmen: Berry, Rogers, Stricklin, Snow, Stephens, Copeland, Hendrix, Taylor, Booker. Absent, Johnson.

Mr. Stephens made the motion, seconded by Mr. Stricklin, that the Jets Social Club be granted permission to sell scotch light for automobiles. All aye.

Mr. Berry made the motion, seconded by Mr. Stephens, that Q.A. Schisler be granted a permit to build a hobby shop. Roll call. All aye. Permit granted.

Mr. Snow made the motion, seconded by Mr. Taylor, that the Sanitation Committee investigates the dumping of garbage. All aye.

Mr. Berry made the motion, seconded by Mr. Hendrix, that Mr. Tolbert be granted permission to enclose his wash and grease rack on Gee. Roll called. All aye.

Mr. Stricklin made the motion that sirens at $155.00 each be purchased for the Police cars. Mr. Booker seconded the motion. Roll called. All aye.

Mr. Stricklin made the motion, seconded by Mr. Rogers, that the Fire Committee investigate ideas of helping neighboring towns when additions helps and trucks are needed. All aye.

Mr. Booker made the motion, seconded by Mr. Hendrix, that the Mayor’s recommendation of R.L. Petillo as Street Foreman be accepted. Roll called. Eight voting aye. One, nay.

Mr. Taylor made the motion, seconded by Mr. Booker, that the Mayor be authorized to contact the Highway Dept. for approval of a light on Gee and the new road leading to the GE Plant. All aye.

Mr. Berry made the motion, seconded by Mr. Taylor, that the City Council allow Merritt Crall to lower the sidewalk on the west side of the City Drug Store by 3 to 3-1/2 inches, at his own expense, with City helping some with necessary labor. Roll called. All aye.
