RESOLUTION TO EXPRESS APPRECIATION TO MRS. E. BOONE WATSON FOR HER LIFE OF SERVICE TO THE CITY OF JONESBORO AND ITS CITIZENS

WHEREAS, Mrs. E. Boone Watson, has been a force in the City of Jonesboro, For Progress for All People, for more than half century.

 

WHEREAS, Mrs. Watson served as a teacher in the Jonesboro Public School System for more than 40 years, teaching at Booker T. Washington School until it was merged with the other City Schools and then teaching in the City Schools for several years.

 

WHEREAS, after retiring from Jonesboro Public Schools, Mrs. Watson took a major role in the Headstart program for Jonesboro and influenced hundreds of Children and their parents toward advancement through education.

 

WHEREAS, Mrs. Watson has been a leader in her church, St. Paul A.M.E., and in the community and has responded any time a project for the good of all citizens was proposed.

 

BE IT ORDAINED that the Community Center on Patrick Street be renamed the E. Boone Watson Community Center in honor of her life of service to all citizens of Jonesboro so that the center will be an inspiration to all young people that hard work and study are keys to success in this life.

 

PASSED and ADOPTED this 4th day of September, 1984.
