AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION 2.68.08 OF THE JONESBORO CODE OF ORDINANCE ALLOWING LANDSCAPING OF THE JONESBORO CEMETERIES

WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City of Jonesboro to beautify the cemeteries located within the City of Jonesboro, and;

 

WHEREAS, the city desires to conduct landscaping, placement of trees, shrubs, and plants within the common areas of the cemeteries located within the city of Jonesboro;

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED, by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:

 

SECTION 1: That previous Ordinance No. 430 now codified as 2.68.08 shall be amended to include the following sentence:

 

(A)  That nothing herein shall prevent the City of Jonesboro acting through its Parks, Recreation Department, the cemetery division thereof, from landscaping and planting such trees, shrubberies and other plants in such spots as may be designated and directed by the head of the parks department.

 

(B)  That all ordinances or parts thereof in conflict therewith are hereby repealed.

 

(C)  That there be an immediate need to select and prepare the site to be landscaped within the cemeteries, and emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance shall hereby take effect from and after its passage and approval.

 

SECTION 2: The Mayor, Hubert Brodell and City Clerk, Donna Jackson are hereby authorized by the City Council for the City of Jonesboro to execute all documents necessary to effectuate this agreement.
