RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS GRANTS AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT TO APPLY FOR THE FY2025 GREAT STRIDES/TRAILS FOR LIFE GRANT FROM THE ARKANSAS DEPARTMENT OF PARKS, HERITAGE AND TOURISM

WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas recognizes the importance of providing public recreational facilities for residents and visitors; and
WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas seeks grant funding from the Great Strides/Trails For Life program through the Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage, and Tourism to refurbish and strengthen the 2.25 miles soft-surface lake loop trail at Craighead Forest Park; and
WHEREAS, the City pledges to sign a contract agreeing to maintain this trail for a minimum period of 25 years; and
WHEREAS, the City request $250,000 in grant funding with zero local match.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL FOR THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS THAT:
SECTION 1: The Jonesboro City Council supports the submission of the FY2025 Great Strides/Trails For Life grant application to the Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism for improvements to the 2.25 miles soft-surface lake loop trail at Craighead Forest Park.
SECTION 2: The Mayor and the City Clerk are hereby authorized by the City Council for the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas to execute all necessary documents to effectuate the application.
SECTION 3: The Grants and Community Development Department is hereby authorized by the City Council for the City of Jonesboro to submit all necessary documents for this grant.
SECTION 4: The City Council does hereby authorize the Mayor and City Clerk to execute all agreements and contracts regarding any future grant award.
