AN ORDINANCE TO WAIVE COMPETITIVE BIDDING AND AUTHORIZE PURCHASE OF REPAIRS TO THE LADDER TRUCK IN THE CITY OF JONESBORO FIRE DEPARTMENT AND FOR OTHER PURPOSE.

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:
SECTION 1: That the Fire Department needs to make repairs to the Ladder Truck, specifically to install a new engine and transmission, for immediate use.
SECTION 2: That such repairs may be purchased from J & O Diesel, Inc of Jonesboro, Arkansas for the sum of $18,050.00.
SECTION 3: That the City Council, in accord with the terms of A.C.A. 14-58-302 (2) (B) hereby waives the requirement of competitive bidding and directs the Purchasing Officer to purchase the above described repairs for the price set forth in Section 2 above. Said amount shall be moved from unappropriated money from the General Fund to the Repair Parts line item in the Fire Department.
SECTION 4: It is further found that due to the immediate need to acquire such repairs, an emergency is declared to exist and this ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety shall take effect from and after its approval.
