AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 14.08. DISTRICT REGULATIONS, OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS BY CREATING A NEW SECTION, SECTION 14. 08. 00, SPECIFICALLY FOR THE PURPOSE OF DEFINITIONS AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:
SECTION 1: That Chapter 14. 08, District Regulations, is hereby amended to read as follows:
14.08.00 Definitions. For purposes of this chapter, the following words are specifically defined.
(1) YARD. Yard is an open, unoccupied space, unobstructed from the grown to the sky on a lot on which a building is situated, except that a roof overhand may extend a maximum of thirty inches (30").
SECTION 2: If for any reason any portion of this ordinance is held to be invalid, such invalidity shall in no way affect the remaining portions thereof which are valid, but such valid portions shall remain in full force and effect.
SECTION 3: It is found and declared by the City Council that an emergency exists and this ordinance, being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety, shall take effect from and after its passage and approval.
