A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF JONESBORO ARKANSAS GRANTS AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT TO APPLY FOR THE FY23 BUILDING RESILIENT INFRASTRUCTURE AND COMMUNITIES (BRIC) GRANT FROM THE FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY (FEMA).

WHEREAS, FEMA has invited the Arkansas Division of Emergency Management (ADEM) to apply for the FY23 Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) Grant; and,
WHEREAS, ADEM announced they were accepting Notice of Intent (NOI) for the FY23 BRIC Grant, of which, the City of Jonesboro AR submitted an NOI for the Outlet of Lost Creek Flooding Mitigation Project and has invited the city to apply as a sub-applicant; and,
WHEREAS, the city will request funding for project scoping of 1.27 miles of channel and bridge improvements at Lost Creek on the Northside of Jonesboro.
WHEREAS, the total project cost is $1,080,000 and the city will be required to provide a local match of up to 25%.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL FOR THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS THAT:
SECTION 1: The Jonesboro City Council supports the submission of the FY23 BRIC application for the Outlet of Lost Creek Flooding Mitigation Project.
SECTION 2: The Mayor and the City Clerk are hereby authorized by the City Council for the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas to execute all necessary documents to effectuate the application.
SECTION 3: The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to execute all appropriate agreements and contracts necessary to expedite the above stated project.
