Minutes for the City Council meeting on April 8, 1957

The City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Ark. met in regular session at City Hall on Monday, April 8, 1957, at 7:30 p.m. There were present: Mayor, City Atty., City Clerk and the following named Councilmen: Keister, Johnson, Field, Copeland, Stricklin, Brickell, Snow, Hamilton and Hart. Absent: Dr. Fritz.
Mr. Keister offered the following Resolution:
A RESOLUTION FINDING THAT IT IS TO THE BEST INTEREST OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS, TO LEASE AND CONTRACT TO SELL TO THE JONESBORO INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION A PART OF THE PROPERTY ADJOINING THE JONESBORO MUNICIPAL AIRPORT.
Mr. Keister made the motion, seconded by Mr. Hamilton that the rule be suspended and the Resolution be placed on the second reading. Roll was called. All members present voted aye. Motion carried. Mr. Hamilton made the motion, seconded by Mr. Field, that the rule be suspended and the Resolution be placed on the third and final reading. Roll was called. All members present voted aye. Motion carried. Mr. Keister made the motion, seconded by Mr. Hart, that the Resolution be adopted. Roll was called. All members present voted aye. Motion carried. Roll was called on the Emergency clause and all members present voted aye. The resolution was given the number 1957:07.
Mr. Johnson offered the following Ordinance and placed it on the first reading:
AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A BUILDING AT THE JONESBORO MUNICIPAL AIRPORT; PROVIDING FOR THE CITY AIRPORT COMMISSION TO CONTRACT FOR THE CONSTRUCTION THEREOF; APPROVING LEASE OF SAID PREMISES; PROVIDING FOR THE ISSUANCE OF REVENUE BONDS PAYABLE SOLELY FROM INCOME TO BE RECEIVED FROM THE PREMISES; AUTHORIZING LEASE AND AGREEMENT TO SELL SURPLUS PROPERTY; PLEDGING LEASE PAYMENTS AND INTEREST IN PROPERTY TO THE PAYMENT OF BONDS; AND PRESCRIBING OTHER MATTERS IN RELATION THERETO AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
