AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE JONESBORO CODE OF ORDINANCES CHAPTER 2.20, ENTITLED CITY COUNCIL; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES (NOTE: THIS ORDINANCE WAS AMENDED BY ORD-03:369 ON AUGUST 4, 2003; ORD-06:138 ON APRIL 18, 2006; ORD-04:270 ON DECEMBER 20, 2004; ORD-06:103 ON SEPTEMBER 19, 2006; ORD-07:09 ON MAY 1, 2007; ORD-14:005 ON FEBRUARY 6, 2014)

WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Jonesboro City Council to establish the organization of the 2003 Jonesboro City Council in accordance with Arkansas Code Annotated 14-43-501 which mandates the aldermen elected for each city shall annually, at the first council meeting in January, assemble and organize the city council; and
WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 3344 was adopted February 18, 2002 by the Jonesboro City Council amending Jonesboro Code of Ordinances, Chapter 2.20 establishing procedures in council meetings and other procedures and rules.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:
SECTION 1: That Ordinance No. 3344 is repealed in its entirety.
SECTION 2: That the Jonesboro Code of Ordinances, Chapter 2.20, entitled City Council, Sections 2.20.01, 2.20.02, 2.20.04, 2.20.10, 2.20.12, 2.20.13, 2.20.14, 2.20.15, and 2.20.16 are hereby repealed and/or replaced according to Exhibit "A" hereto attached.
SECTION 3: All ordinances or part of ordinances in conflict herewith are repealed to the extent of the conflict.
SECTION 4: The provisions of this ordinance are hereby declared to be severable and if any section, phrase or provision shall be declared or held invalid, each invalidity shall not affect the remainder of the sections, phrases or provisions.
SECTION 5: An emergency is declared to ensure that the City Council is not in violation of and meets the requirements of Arkansas Code Annotated 14-43-501.
