RESOLUTION TO COMMEND ROBERT FULLER AND THE JONESBORO HIGH SCHOOL HURRICANE CHOIR

WHEREAS, the Jonesboro High School Hurricane Choir, under the masterful guidance of its director, Robert Fuller, as achieved a reputation as one of the finest high school choirs in the Mid South;

 

WHEREAS, the Jonesboro High School Choir has for the past four years received a first division rating in the Arkansas State Choral Festival;

 

WHEREAS, the Jonesboro High School Choir won the Arkansas High School Invitational Choral Contest in 1973 and 1974;

 

WHEREAS, the Jonesboro High School Choir was selected as the most outstanding choir in the state in AAA competition in 1974;

 

WHEREAS, the Jonesboro High School Choir has been invited by the Council on Intercultural Relations to represent the high school choirs of this United States of America in a concert tour of Europe;

 

WHEREAS, the Jonesboro High School Choir will present concerts in Austria, Germany, Switzerland and Italy and will be joined by a symphony orchestra from Vienna for the presentation of the Schubert MASSIN G, and will be guest directed by Professor Hermann Furthmoser, conductor of the world famous Vienna Boys Choir;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that individually and collectively, Mr. Fuller and the members of his Jonesboro High School Hurricane Choir be officially designated as Ambassadors of Goodwill from Jonesboro, Arkansas and;

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the third week of June be designated as Hurricane Choir Week in recognition of the tremendous accomplishments of this man and his choir.

 

APPROVED by the Jonesboro City Council in regular session on May 19, 1975.

 

PASSED and ADOPTED this 19th day of May, 1975.
