Meeting called to order by Mayor Doug Formon

Street moved, seconded by Johnson for the adoption of a resolution setting a public hearing for March 6, 2007, at 6:15 p.m. for the purpose of abandoning a 60 foot drainage easement located in Technology Park for the Alberto-Culver Project. A voice vote was taken resulting in all members voting aye. Those members were: Frierson, Province, Hargis, Williams, Perrin, Street, Johnson, Dover, Furr and McCall. The resolution was assigned number 2007:33.

Discussion was held regarding the procedure for conducting interviews and the selection process for Ward 6, Position 2 Alderman. The decision was made to interview each candidate independently, then go into executive session for the purpose of discussing the qualifications in appointing the position.

The following applicants were interviewed: Richard Carvell, 4214 Brenda Street - Faye McCall, 3518 Aggie Road - Christy Gibson, 3307 Baswell, and Adam Nichols 3804 Sunset. Each applicant provided a short response to their qualifications and why they are interested in the position, and then questions were asked by the City Council and Mayor Formon. Some of the questions asked were as follows: 1. What in your opinion is a good Governance Policy? 2. How could the City of Jonesboro utilize Arkansas State University? 3. What is your understanding of the roles of Mayor and City Council? 4. In your opinion what should be our long range priorities? 5. Opinion on impact fees.
