CITY COUNCIL AGENDA - May 1, 2000
1. Call to order by Mayor at 6:30 p.m.
2. Roll call by Clerk.
3. Approval of minutes from April 17, 2000 as delivered.
4. City Attorney:
A. 2nd Reading - Ordinance providing for the levy of a one percent sales and use tax within the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas; one half (2) of all proceeds derived from the sales and use tax will be for financing Capital Improvements of a public nature and the remaining one half (2) will be for general operating purposes; and prescribing other matters pertaining thereto.
B. 2nd Reading - Ordinance calling a Special Election in the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, on the question of levying a one percent Sales and Use Tax within the City of Jonesboro, prescribing other matters pertaining thereto; and declaring an emergency.
C. 2nd Reading - Ordinance to repeal the City's Sanitation Domestic Refuse Fee; the Mosquito Control Fee and the 2.1 Mill General City Property Tax upon the approval of a one percent (1%) City Sales and Use Tax in the 2000 Special Election; Reestablishing said fees upon the abolishment of said tax; and for other purposes.
D. 1st Reading - Ordinance to vacate and abandon a portion of the Melrose Street Right of Way. (Archon Group)
E. 1st Reading - Ordinance to rezone property from Residential (R-2) to Commercial (C-5), located on the northeast corner of Matthews Avenue and Roland Street. (Louise Nance)
