RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF JONESBORO GRANTS DEPARTMENT TO APPLY FOR THE 2012 ASSISTANCE TO FIRE FIGHTERS GRANT FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY.

Whereas, the 2012 Assistance to Fire Fighters Grant is a $140,000 grant that will be utilized to purchase personal protective equipment (PPE gear) for the Fire Department; and
Whereas, the grant is 80% federally funded and 20% local match; and
Whereas, the local match will be funded by ACT 833 funds from the State of Arkansas;
Therefore, be it resolved by City Council of the City of Jonesboro that:
Section1: The City of Jonesboro Grants Department will apply for the 2012 Assistance to Fire Fighters Grant where the 20% local match will be funded with ACT 833 funds; and
Section 2: If the City of Jonesboro is awarded said grant, the Grants Department will return to Council for approval of said grant agreement.
