Minutes for the special called City Council meeting on August 24, 1970

The City Council of the City of Jonesboro met in special session in City Hall, Monday night, August 24, 1970, at 7:30 p.m. There were present: Mayor, City Attorney and the following named Councilmen: Pierce, Park, Dr. Bowers, Young Darling, Stricklin, Minx, Bowers, Williams, Johnson and Knight. Absent: Pardew and City Clerk.
The roads to the Arkansas Service Center were discussed. After the discussion, Dr. Bowers suggested that the City hold all the parties to the contract.
Mr. Pierce offered the following resolution:
RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO CONVEY PROPERTY AND A UTILITY EASEMENT TO CITY WATER AND LIGHT
Mr. Knight moved with Mr. Williams seconding the motion that the resolution be adopted. On the roll call, voting aye: Pierce, Park, Dr. Bowers, Young, Stricklin, Williams, Johnson and Knight. Passing: Darling, Minx and Bowers. Motion carried. The resolution was given the number 1970:13.
Council listened to several insurance men explaining the non-uniform pension plan for the City employees. A decision will be made at the next meeting.
There being no further business, Council voted unanimously to adjourn.
