AN ORDINANCE TO WAIVE COMPETITIVE BIDDING AND AUTHORIZE PURCHASE OF COMPELLENT SAN SYSTEM FOR THE INFORMATION SYSTEMS DEPARTMENT

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS THAT:
SECTION ONE: That the Information Systems department of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, needs to purchase a Compellent SAN System.
SECTION TWO: That said equipment may be purchased from OPTUS, a sole source, for the sum of $39,132.94, sales tax and freight included, to be paid from the account 01-110-0232-00
SECTION THREE: That the City Council in accord with the terms of A.C.A. Section 14-58-302 hereby waives the requirement of competitive bidding and directs the Purchasing Agent to purchase the above described for the price set forth in Section 2 above.
SECTION FOUR: It is further found that due to immediate need to acquire this equipment to store vital data to operation of the City of Jonesboro, an emergency is declared to exist and this ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety, it shall take effect from and after its passage and approval.
