RESOLUTION TO ELECT REPRESENTATIVES FROM EACH DEPARTMENT TO PROVIDE INPUT AT COMMITTEE MEETINGS RELATING TO THEIR DEPARTMENT

WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Jonesboro encourages participation and input from the employees of the City of Jonesboro, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Jonesboro has identified a need to improve the communication and participation between the employees of the City and the City Council;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL FOR THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS, that each City Department which has at least 3 employees shall select a representative by secret ballot for the purpose of providing input at committee meetings relating to their department.
Any employee who is interested in representing their department shall notify in writing the Human Resource Department by the close of business on March 11, 2003.
The Human Resource Department shall develop a ballot for each department, set a day for the election and count the votes. The Human Resource Department shall notify the newly elected representatives and forward the election results to the City Clerk. All ballots shall be retained in the Human Resources Department for one year from the date of the election.
Representatives will be compensated according to their salary schedule for any meetings they attend concerning their home department
Each representative’s term shall be for a period of one year with elections to be held hereafter in January of each new year.
