The City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas met in regular session at City Hall, Monday night, December 7, 1959. There were present: Mayor, City Clerk, City Attorney and the following named Councilmen: Keister, Snow, Field, Williams, Griffin, Rogers, Smith, Heern, Copeland, Parks and Ebbert. Absent: Brickell.

Mr. Heern offered the following Resolution:

RESOLUTION TO LEVY A TAX OF 1 MILL ON ALL REAL AND PERSONAL PROPERTY FOR THE MAINTENANCE OF THE PUBLIC LIBRARY

Mr. Heern made the motion, seconded by Mr. Griffin, that the Resolution be adopted. Roll was called. All aye, except Mr. Rogers who voted no. Motion carried. The resolution was given the number 1959:32.

It was agreeable with the Council that the Salvation Army use the old collector’s building until a lease is made.

Mr. Parks offered the following Resolution:

RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF 6 PIECES OF PROPERTY FOR OFF STREET PARKING FACILITIES

Mr. Parks made the motion, seconded by Mr. Rogers, that the Resolution be adopted. Roll was called. Mr. Snow voted no and all other members present voted aye. Motion carried. The resolution was given the number 1959:33.

Mr. Rogers offered the following Resolution:

RESOLUTION SHOWING NO PROTEST REGARDING ORDINANCE #998

Mr. Rogers moved with Mr. Ebbert seconding, that the Resolution be adopted. Roll was called. All aye. Motion carried. The resolution was given the number 1959:34.

Mr. Copeland offered the following Resolution:

RESOLUTION TO AGREE TO THE PROVISIONS IN “A PROPOSAL FOR A COMPREHENSIVE STREET AND TRAFFIC PLAN FOR JONESBORO, ARKANSAS” AS SUBMITTED BY THE CITY PLANNING DIVISION AT THE UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS

Mr. Copeland moved with Mr. Keister seconding, that the Resolution be adopted. All voted aye on the calling of the roll. Motion carried. The resolution was given the number 1959:36.
