RESOLUTION TO AMEND RESOLUTION 22:192 BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS TO LEVY A 1 MILL TAX ON ALL REAL AND PERSONAL PROPERTY FOR THE PUBLIC LIBRARY PURSUANT TO THE VOTE OF THE CITIZENS

WHEREAS, Resolution 22:192 was approved on October 18, 2022 approving the millage of 2 mills on the dollar for the support, operation, and maintenance of the public library; and

 

WHEREAS, pursuant to the terms of Amendment 30 of the Constitution of the State of Arkansas, a duly qualified election was held on November 8, 2022 upon presentation of a petition by voters; and

 

WHEREAS, a majority of the electors voted in favor of a reduction of the millage for the public library, and approved an annual levy on all real and personal property within the City for the support, operation, and maintenance of the public library, specifying a rate of taxation of 1 mill on the dollar; and

 

WHEREAS, these questions being answered by a majority of the qualified voters the Mayor proclaimed it adopted by law.

 

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL FOR THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS THAT:


SECTION 1: Resolution 22:192 is hereby amended.

 

SECTION 2: Pursuant to the millage rollback computation - Arkansas Statute 84-493.2; Section 3, Act 848, the taxation will be as follows: On all  real property the taxes are at the rate of 1 mill on the dollar and on all personal property, excepting household goods, the rate is 1 mill on the dollar.
