CITY COUNCIL MEETING, DECEMBER 15, 1975

The Jonesboro City Council met in regular session, Monday, December 15, 1975, at 7:30 p.m. There were present, Mayor, City Attorney, City Clerk, and the following named aldermen: Ward, Sanderson, Bridger, Burns, Stricklin, Minx, Smith, Bowers, Haggenmacher, Johnson, Hannah and Darling.

Mr. Hervey Aycock, representing Jonesboro Chamber of Commerce, advised council that Mr. John Goldsmith was interested in the purchase of property in the Industrial Park for erecting a manufacturing plant for washers. Mr. Sanderson moved that the property be sold to Mr. Goldsmith at a cost of $5,000.00 an acre, seconded by Mr. Ward. Roll call voting aye, Ward Sanderson, Bridger, Stricklin, Minx, Smith, Bowers, Haggenmacher, Johnson, Hannah and Darling. Voting nay, Burns. Motion carried.

Mr. Bowers offered the following ordinance:

AN ORDINANCE ACCEPTING CERTAIN LANDS ANNEXED TO THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS, BY ORDER OF THE COUNTY COURT OF CRAIGHEAD COUNTY, ARKANSAS, ASSIGNING SAID ANNEXED TERRITORY TO WARD 5; ZONING SAID ANNEXED TERRITORY COMMERCIAL (C-3) DECLARING AN EMERGENCY; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES

Mr. Stricklin offered the following ordinance:

AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO. 954 KNOWN AS THE ZONING ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR CHANGE IN ZONING BOUNDARIES

Mr. Johnson moved that the ordinance be placed on second reading, seconded by Mr. Ward, with all members of council voting aye. The ordinance was then read the second time by Mr. Zoper.

Mr. Johnson then moved that the ordinance be placed on third and final reading, seconded by Mr. Ward. All members of council voted aye. Mr. Zolper then read the ordinance the third time. Mr. Johnson moved for the adoption of the ordinance, including the emergency clause, seconded by Mr. Ward, receiving unanimous vote of council. The ordinance was adopted and given #1478.
