CITY COUNCIL MINUTES, FEBRUARY 20, 1984

The Jonesboro City Council met in regular session, Monday, February 20, 1984, at 7:30 p.m. Present were Mayor, City Clerk, City Attorney, and all aldermen except Mr. Hannah, Mr. Park and Dr. Smith.

The minutes of February 6, 1984, were approved as mailed on motion by Mr. Stricklin, seconded by Mr. Shelton. All voted aye.

Mr. Sanderson offered the following resolution: (E. C. Barton Rev. Bonds)

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING A MEMORANDUM OF INTENT BY AND BETWEEN THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS, AND E. C. BARTON & COMPANY PERTAINING TO THE ISSUANCE OF INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT REVENUE BONDS FOR FINANCING THE COSTS OF ACQUIRING INDUSTRIAL FACILITIES; AND PRESCRIBING OTHER MATTERS RELATING THERETO.

Mr. Mays moved, seconded by Mr. Shelton to adopt the resolution. All voted aye. Motion passed. The resolution was given the number 1984:03.

Mr. Sanderson offered the following resolution: (Housing & Health Care Facilities Board)

A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE ISSUANCE BY THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS RESIDENTIAL HOUSING AND HEALTH CARE FACILITIES BOARD OF NOT TO EXCEED $4,000,000 PRINCIPAL AMOUNT OF ITS REVENUE BONDS (HEALTH RESOURCES PROJECT)

Mr. Sanderson moved, seconded by Mr. Shelton to adopt the resolution. All voted aye. Motion passed. The resolution was given the number 1984:04.

Mr. Shelton offered the following ordinance:

AN ORDINANCE LEVYING A ONE PERCENT (1%) GROSS RECEIPT TAX ON THE SALE OF PREPARED FOODS WITHIN THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.

Mr. Larry Worsham was appointed to the Public Facilities Board on motion by Mr. Mays, seconded by Mr. Blevins. All voted aye.

The Mayor submitted the following names to be placed on MAPC - John White and Jerry Orr. Mr. Nix moved, seconded by Mr. Blevins, to table the appointments for two weeks. All voted aye except Mr. Hinson, Mr. Shelton, Mr. Bridger and Mr. Mays. Motion passed 5-4.
