RESOLUTION TO REQUEST IMMEDIATE ACTION FROM THE ARKANSAS STATE HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT REGARDING INSTALLATION OF TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES AT CERTAIN INTERSECTIONS IN THE CITY OF JONESBORO.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS:
WHEREAS, the intersection of Highland Drive and Caraway Road and the intersection of Matthews Avenue and Gee Street and the trisection of Aggie Road, Bush Street, and Caraway Road in the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas are highly congested intersections which have become dangerous due to the heavy traffic flow across and through these intersections of both automobile and truck traffic;
WHEREAS, numerous accidents have occurred at the intersections involving damage to property, personal injury, and death; and
Such intersections carry heavy traffic on journeys through the City of Jonesboro;
WHEREAS, proper regulation and control of automotive traffic at the intersection of Highland Drive and Caraway Road and the trisection of Aggie Road, Bush Street, and Caraway Road requires the immediate installation of proper traffic regulating controls;
WHEREAS, a traffic study at the intersection of Matthews Avenue and Gee Street should be made to determine the feasibility of a traffic control light at this intersection.
NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of Jonesboro, Arkansas that the Arkansas State Highway Department take immediate action for the installation of traffic control devices at the intersection of Highland Drive and Caraway Rod and the trisection of Aggie Road, Bush Street and Caraway Road and take immediate action to study the traffic at the intersection of Matthews Avenue and Gee Street to determine the feasibility of a traffic control light at this intersection.
UNANIMOUSLY PASSED and ADOPTED March 3rd 1969.
