AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR CERTAIN TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES; TO PROVIDE PENALTIES FOR VIOLATION THEREOF, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:

Section 1: The City Council finds and declares that eh condition of traffic is such as to endanger the traveling public and pedestrians on certain streets and that certain traffic control devices are established and placed on the following streets:

(a) A sign designating a speed limit of 25 miles per hour to be located on North Church from Forrest Street to Word Street.
(b) A sign establishing a speed limit of 25 miles per hour to be located on Wood Springs Road from Wood Street to U.S. No. 63 Bypass.
(c) A sign establishing a speed limit of 20 miles per hour on McAdams, McDaniel and Brogman Streets.

Section 2: The drivers of all vehicles shall obey all traffic control signals per instruction on the face thereof.

Section 3: The Chief of Police or some other person designated by him is hereby directed to place and locate upon the above described streets at the proper places, appropriate signs designating the appropriate speed limit as set out above, and it shall be unlawful for any person, firm, partnership, association or corporation to tear down, remove or mutilate such signs or violate the instructions on the fact of such sign.

Section 4: Every person convicted of a violation of any provision of this Ordinance shall be punished by a fine of not more than $100.00.

Section 5: All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict.

Section 6: It is found and declared by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas that due to increasing traffic congestion and lack of traffic control devices on the above streets that this Ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety an emergency is hereby declared to exist, and this Ordinance shall take effect and be ...
