BE IT ENACTED BY THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS, AN ORDINANCE TO WAIVE BIDDING REQUIREMENTS:

WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Jonesboro accepted low bid for city wide liability insurance from Gallagher Insurance in December 1985 for the calendar year of 1986.

 

WHEREAS, in the bid specifications, Bid #85:30, a clause was included which read; The period of insurance will begin January 1, 1986, and be renewable yearly at the discretion of the City of Jonesboro for a period not to exceed three (3) years.

 

WHEREAS, the insurance policy will be renew at an approximate cost of $98,997.00. Therefore, it will be necessary for the City Council to waive the ordinance pertaining to formal bids.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:

 

Section 1: Section 2-3, 3 of the Code Ordinances of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas should be waived to permit the City purchasing agent to renew the correct liability policy with Gallagher Company of Little Rock without formal bidding procedures.

 

Section 2: Due to the urgency of such an insurance policy being renewed, an emergency is therefore declared and this ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval.

 

PASSED and ADOPTED this 3rd day of November, 1986.
