AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING THE LITTERING OF PARKS, STREETS AND CEMETERIES; TO PROVIDE PENALTIES FOR VIOLATION THEREOF; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES

BE IT ENACTED AND ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas.

 

Section 1: It shall be unlawful for any person, firm, or corporation to deposit, leave, or discard any papers, trash, refuge, garbage, or other waste in any park of grounds of a recreational facility under the supervision of the Jonesboro Parks and Recreation Commission, streets and cemeteries located in the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, other than in receptacles provided for such purpose.

 

Section 2: Every person convicted of a violation of any provision of this Ordinance shall be fined not more than $50.00.

 

Section 3: It is found and declared by the City Council that an increasing amount of littering has occurred in the City Parks area, streets and cemeteries and this Ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety. An emergency is hereby declared to exist and this Ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage and adoption.
