AN ORDINANCE TO WAIVE COMPETITIVE BIDDING FOR THE CODIFICATION OF THE JONESBORO CODE OF ORDINANCES AND AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF THE CONTRACT WITH MUNICIPAL CODE CORPORATION, AKA MUNICODE

WHEREAS, the Jonesboro Code of Ordinances was last codified in 2004 by the Arkansas Municipal League; and
 
WHEREAS, the Jonesboro City Council desires to have an electronic link to the Jonesboro Code of Ordinances containing current legislation through the Legistar System; and appropriated $15,000 in the 2007 City Clerk's budget for codification; and
 
WHEREAS, Municode is the oldest and largest codifier of local government Codes, and are well respected for their high level of professionalism and customer service.
 
BE IT THEREFORE ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL FOR THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS, that
 
SECTION 1:  Mayor Formon and City Clerk Donna Jackson are authorized to enter in to a contract with Municipal Code Corporations, AKA Municode, which has been approved as to form by Jonesboro City Attorney, Phillip Crego.
 
SECTION 2:   That the codification can be purchased from Municode, out of Tallahassee, Florida for a sum not to exceed $15,000 which has been allocated in the 2007 budget appropriation of the City Clerk's budget.
 
SECTION 3:  Due to the time frame of the contract and the cost associated with it, an emergency is declared to exist and this ordinance, shall take effect upon its passage and approval.
