AN ORDINANCE DESIGNATING A CERTAIN PART OF EAST STREET AS A “NO PARKING AREA;” AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas.
Section 1: From and after passage and adoption of this Ordinance, part of East Avenue as set forth herein shall be designated as a “NO PARKING AREA”, to Wit:
No parking on the East and West side of East Street from Monroe Avenue to Washington Avenue.
Section 2: The Chief of Police or some other person designated by him is hereby directed to place and locate upon the above described street at the proper places, appropriate signs reading “no parking”, and it is unlawful for any person, firm, or corporation to tear down or mutilate such signs or to park any vehicle in the “No Parking Area.”
Section 3: Every person convicted of a violation of any provision of this Ordinance shall be punished by a fine of not more than $25.00.
Section 4: All Ordinances and parts of Ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
Section 5: It is found and declared by the City Council that the increasing amount of traffic congestion and lack of traffic control devices have caused danger to life and property and this Ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this Ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage and adoption.
