AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHAPTER 5.16 OF THE JONESBORO MUNICIPAL CODE TO AUTHORIZE THE CITY’S SANITATION INPECTORS AND CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS TO ENFORCE ALL SECTIONS OF CHAPTER 5.16

WHEREAS, Sanitation Inspectors are authorized by Chapter 5.16 of the Jonesboro Municipal code to issue warnings and citations for violation of certain code provisions pertaining to the collection accumulation of garbage, trash, litter, debris, or other unsightly items on private or public property; and,
WHEREAS, Code Enforcement Officers are authorized by certain sections of Chapter 5.16 to issue warning and citations for violations of certain code provisions dealing with unsafe, unsanitary, and unsightly conditions including dangerous structures that are unfit for human habitation; and,
WHEREAS, Sanitation Inspectors, in the course of performing their duties, encounter violations of city codes that are now enforced by the Code Enforcement Officers; and,
WHEREAS, Code Enforcement Officers, in the course of performing their duties, encounter violations of city codes that are now enforced by the Sanitation Inspectors, and,
WHEREAS, in the interest of efficiency, it is desirable to give the Sanitation Inspectors and the Code Enforcement Officers authority to issue warnings and citations for violations of all codes and ordinances dealing with unsafe, unsanitary, and unsightly conditions.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas
That the Sanitation Inspectors and Code Enforcement Officers of the City of Jonesboro are authorized to enforce all provisions of Chapter 5, 16, Garbage, Trash and Weeds, of the Jonesboro Municipal Code.
