A BILL FOR AN ORDINANCE ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SCHEDULE A, SECTION 6, ITEM 132, OF ORDINANCE NO. 757

BE IT ORDAINED AND ENACTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS:

SECTION 1. That Schedule A, Section 6, Item No. 132 of Ordinance No. 757, passed and adopted on July 28, 1847, is hereby amended to read as follows:

“Item 132. Undertakers - $75.00”

SECTION 2. Emergency. It is hereby found that the present occupation tax on undertakers is oppressive, excessive and unfair, and is not in line with the occupation taxes imposed upon other professions and this ordinance being necessary for the protection of the public peace, health and safety, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, adoption and publication.
