RESOLUTION TO EXTEND THE LEASE WITH ST. BERNARD'S HEALTH CARE FOR SPACE IN THE HUNTINGTON BUILDING THROUGH JUNE 30, 2007

WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro owns the facility located at 900 West Monroe, commonly referred to as the "Huntington Building"; and
WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro recognizes the efforts of St. Bernard's Health Care to operate Senior Life Centers by contract through the East Arkansas Area Agency on Aging; and
WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro entered into a lease agreement dated effective July 1, 2002 for the lease of space in the Huntington Building, a copy of which lease is attached hereto as Exhibit "A" (the "Lease"); and
WHEREAS, St. Bernard's has requested that the term of the Lease be extended for an additional year through June 30, 2007 on the same terms and conditions contained in the Lease; and
WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro believes the extension of the Lease for the additional period is in the best interest of the citizens of the City of Jonesboro.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council for the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas that:
1. The term of the Lease is hereby extended through June 30, 2007.
2. The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute such documents as are necessary to effectuate the resolution, including the amendment to lease attached hereto as Exhibit "B" and incorporated herein by reference.
