Title

A RESOLUTION TO CONTRACT WITH THE NATURE CONSERVANCY TO CONDUCT A RECREATION AND CONSERVATION PARCEL ASSESSMENT

Body

WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro has received a grant from the Arkansas Forestry Commission to conduct a GIS study of Jonesboro land to assess which undeveloped parcels of land have the most value for conservation and recreation; and

WHEREAS, The Nature Conservancy has conducted an identical study in Fayetteville, Arkansas; and

WHEREAS, The information from  this study will aid the Parks and Recreation Department and the Planning Department in developing the Land Use Plan; and

WHEREAS, The funds to pay for this study shall come from the 2007-2008 Arkansas Forestry Grant;

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL FOR THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS THAT:

Section 1:  That the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas shall contract with The Nature Conservancy to conduct a conservation and recreation parcel assessment.  A copy of said contract is attached as "Exhibit A."

Section 2:  The Mayor, Doug Formon and City Clerk, Donna Jackson are hereby authorized by the City Council for the City of Jonesboro to execute all documents necessary to effectuate the agreement.
