title
AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE SLAUGHTERING, KILLING AND DRESSING OF ANIMALS FOR MARKET WITHIN THE CITY OF JONESBORO; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES
body
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. That hereafter it shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to engage in the business of slaughtering, killing and dressing of any kine, sheep, hogs or other animals for market within the City of Jonesboro unless such person, firm or corporation complies with the orders, rules and promulgations of the State Board of Health of Arkansas regulating such business.
SECTION 2. Section 341 and 314 of the Digest of the laws and ordinances of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, compiled under authority of the City Council of Jonesboro, Arkansas, by William Carroll and all other ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
SECTION 3. Whereas, there are certain persons, firms and corporations now engaged in the business of slaughtering animals for market within the city limits of Jonesboro as recently annexed by the Circuit Court of Craighead County, Arkansas; that the rigid enforcement of certain old and obsolete ordinances of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, would work a great hardship on such persons, firms and corporations and would throw a great number of people out of employment because of such enforcement causing great hardship and deprivation, an emergency is therefore declared to exist and this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and adoption.
PASSED AND ADOPTED on this 7th day of February, 1949.
