AN ORDINANCE DESIGNATING THE MAXIMUM SPEED LIMITS ON PARTS OF WOODROW AND FORREST STREETS AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:

 

Section 1: From and after passage of this Ordinance, the maximum speed limits on Woodrow and Forrest Streets between Main and Culberhouse shall be twenty (20) MPH.

 

Section 2: The Chief of Police or some person designated by him is directed to place and locate upon the above described streets, appropriate signs at the proper places reading “20 MPH” and it shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to tear down or mutilate said signs.

 

Section 3: Every person convicted of a violation of this Ordinance shall be punishable by a fine of not more than $100.00.

 

Section 4: All Ordinances and parts of Ordinances in conflict with this Ordinance are hereby repealed.

 

Section 5: It is found and declared that the absence of proper speed limits is a menace to residents of these streets; that therefore, this Ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage and adoption.

 

PASSED and ADOPTED this 1st day of March, 1976.
