AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND NO.1851, THE 1984 BUDGET ORDINANCE

WHEREAS, Judgment was ordered against the City of Jonesboro by the United States District Court, Eastern District of Arkansas, Jonesboro Division, case N0-C-82-212; and
WHEREAS, Nora King Hopkins was awarded Judgment in the amount of $18,635.00 with interest at the rate of 9.93 percent per annum; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Jarboe was awarded $2,600.00 in attorney’s fees and $136.50 in expense in expenses; and
WHEREAS Mr. Grider was awarded $3,900.00 in attorney’s fees and $609.56 in costs and expenses; and
WHEREAS, said Judgments were not included in the 1984 Budget for the City of Jonesboro.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas.
Section 1: The miscellaneous line item of the Police Department 1984 Budget is increased by $26,018.00.
Section 2: The appropriation of $26,018. 00 shall come from un-appropriated funds in the General fund.
Section 3: That an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance being necessary for the public peace, health and safety, and shall take effect and be in full force form and after its passage and approve.
