RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO PURCHASE PROPERTY LOCATED IN THE 6100 BLOCK OF E. HIGHLAND DRIVE FROM THE NORTHEAST ARKANSAS HUMANE SOCIETY FOR THE PURPOSE OF CONSTRUCTING FACILITIES TO HOUSE THE STREET, SANITATION, AND ANIMAL CONTROL DEPARTMENTS.

WHEREAS, on July 8, 2005 the City Council authorized the Mayor to find a facility to lease as a temporary solution for the relocation of the Street and Sanitation Departments from their current location on the city landfill, AND
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Mayor and City Council to construct new facilities to house the Street, Sanitation and Animal Control Departments, AND
WHEREAS, the Mayor has identified a 15.17 acre parcel zoned Commercial C-3, which is appropriate for government service, for sale located in the 6100 block of E. Highland Drive that is available for purchase at the price of $151,700 from the Northeast Arkansas Humane Society; AND
WHEREAS, the 15.17 acres, also known as Tract 2 of the NEA Humane Society Minor Plat, is sufficient to provide suitable facilities and space for the Street, Sanitation and Animal Control Departments for many years to come.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council for the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas that:
SECTION 1. The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute all documents necessary to complete the purchase of Tract 2 of the NEA Humane Society Minor Plat in accordance with the attached Offer and Acceptance Contract.
