AN ORDINANCE TO ADOPT A MECHANICAL CODE FOR THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS. (NOTE: THIS ORDINANCE WAS AMENDED BY ORD-95:521 ON AUGUST 21, 1995)

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:
SECTION 1: There is hereby adopted by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, a certain Mechanical Code known as the Standard Mechanical Code, specifically being the 1988 edition. The Standard Mechanical Code, 1988 edition, as adopted, shall establish minimum requirements for safe mechanical installations, including alterations, repair, replacements equipment, appliances, fixtures, fittings and appurtenances thereto so as to safeguard life, health and public welfare and the protection of property within the corporate limits of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas. There are not less than three copies of the Standard Mechanical Code, 1988 edition, now on file in the office of the City Clerk of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, and the same are hereby adopted and incorporated as set out therein and shall be in full force from the date which this ordinance shall take effect.
SECTION 2: Section 105, Standard Mechanical Code, 1988 edition is hereby amended as follows:
(A) The Board of Adjustments and Appeals as set forth in Section 105, Standard Mechanical Code, 1988 edition, shall be administered by the Board of Adjustments and Appeals established in Section 105, Standard Building Code, 1988 edition and amendments thereto.
SECTION 3: It is found and declared by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, that the above sections need to be amended to adopt the most recent edition of the Standard Mechanical Code and therefore, this ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and this ordinance shall take effect and be in full force from and after its passage and approval.
