AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE 2009 ANNUAL BUDGET TO INCREASE THE ADVERTISING & PROMOTIONS (A & P) BUDGET TO INCLUDE $150,000 FOR SESQUICENTENNIAL EXPENDITURES.  FUNDS WILL BE APPROPRIATED FROM ADVERTISING & PROMOTIONS RESERVES TO COVER THE COST OF THE EXPENDITURES

WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas has previously established a budget of $325,000 for the 2009 Advertising & Promotions budget through Ordinance 09:005.

 

WHEREAS, the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas will celebrate its 150th birthday with events and activities to take place from September 27, 2009 through October 3, 2009.

 

WHEREAS, the A & P Commission needs $150,000 to fund one time Sesquicentennial Expenditures related to this celebration.

 

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS THAT:

 

SECTION 1:  The City of Jonesboro, Arkansas will celebrate its Sesquicentennial the week of September 27, 2009 through October 3, 2009.

 

SECTION 2:  The A & P annual 2009 budget is amended by the addition of $150,000 for the Sesquicentennial Expenditures.

 

SECTION 3:  It is further found that due to immediate need to pay bills as they are due an emergency is declared to exist and this ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety, it shall take effect from and after its passage and approval. 

 

PASSED and ADOPTED the 3rd day of November, 2009.
