RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN AGREEMENT WITH THE COMMISSION OF ACCREDITED LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES SEEKING NATIONAL RECOGNITION AND ACCREDITATION FOR THE JONESBORO POLICE DEPARTMENT; AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE SUCH AGREEMENT AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES

WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Council have agreed that the attainment of national accreditation from the commission of accredited law enforcement agencies shall be of benefit to the citizens of Jonesboro by increasing the professionalism and enhancing the operations of the Jonesboro Police Department; and

 

WHEREAS, as less than 5% of the law enforcement agencies in the United States are so accredited, the efficiency and professionalism of the department shall so be enhanced by this endeavor.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council for the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, that:

 

Sec. 1: The Mayor and City Clerk be authorized to execute an agreement with the Commission of Accredited Law Enforcement Agencies to provide for services and facilitate the national accreditation process with CALEA.

 

Sec. 2: That the funding for the initial application fees to CALEA, in the amount of $8,400.00 is within that amount budgeted for such in the 2006 fiscal budget.
