RESOLUTION TO LEVY A 1 MILL TAX ON ALL REAL AND PERSONAL PROPERTY FOR THE FIREMAN’S PENSION AND RELIEF FUND

WHEREAS, the fully organized, qualified, constituted and acting board of trustees of the Fireman’s Pension and Relief Funds of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, have enacted and caused to be certified to the City Clerk of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, a Resolution finding that the sum of $_____ is necessary to discharge the functions of said board during the year 1979; and
WHEREAS, the City Council doth hereby approve said aforementioned Resolution and certificate; and
WHEREAS, the City Council doth find and declare that the total assessed valuation of property both real and personal, within the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, is the sum of $____; and
WHEREAS, the City Council doth find that in order to raise said sum of $____ it is necessary to levy a tax on one mill per dollar of assessed valuation and that the amount to be raised by said tax will not fully cover the certified needs of said Board of Trustees.
NOW, BE IT RESOLVED THEREFORE, BY THE CITY COUNIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS:
1. That there be and there is hereby levied on all real and personal property within the City of Jonesboro a tax of one mill on each dollar of assessed valuation of all real and personal property lying and situated within the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, for the year 1979 and that the funds realized there-from be devoted to the purpose set out in the Fireman’s Pension and Relief Acts and Ordinances.
2. That the County Clerk of Craighead County, Arkansas, be and is hereby authorized and directed to extend said tax herein described upon the tax books and that the same be collected in the same manner as other property taxes are collected.
3. That the City Clerk is hereby directed to spread this resolution upon the minute book of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, and to certify a copy of the same to the County Clerk of Craighead County, Arkansas.
