PUBLIC HEARING- 6:15 p.m. - A public hearing was held regarding the abandonment of a 7 1/2 foot utility easement on the west property line running between Spring Hollow Drive. Mrs. Suzan Houston requested the public hearing. No opposition was voiced.

CITY COUNCIL MINUTES - March 17, 1997

The Jonesboro City Council met Monday, March 17, 1997, at 6:30 p.m. A full quorum was in attendance. Present were: City Clerk, Donna K. Jackson, City Attorney; Phillip Crego, and 11 council members. Those members were: Kelton, Rorex, Kelly, Tate, Crockett, Rega, Pratt, Young, Fletcher, Bowers, and Roddy. Vice Mayor Kelton presided over the meeting in the absence of Mayor Brodell who was away on official city business. Councilman Province was unable to attend due to a death in his family.

The minutes of March 3, 1997, were approved as mailed by Councilman Rega and seconded by Councilman Roddy. A voice vote was taken resulting in all council members voting aye. Those members voting aye were: Kelton, Rorex, Kelly, Tate, Crockett, Rega, Pratt, Young, Fletcher, Bowers, and Roddy.

Mr. Joe Carrier addressed the Council regarding a condemnation extension of his property located at 511 Cate Street and 925 Warner Street. Discussion was held regarding the posting of a bond prior to granting the extension. It was determined that a bond would not be necessary since Mr. Carrier could be trusted to complete the project. Councilman Roddy moved, seconded by Councilman Pratt to grant Mr. Carrier a nine month extension with both houses to be completed by the end of 1997. A voice vote was taken resulting in all council members voting aye. Those members voting aye were: Kelton, Rorex, Kelly, Tate, Crockett, Rega, Pratt, Young, Fletcher, Bowers, and Roddy.
