JULY 12, 1984
The Metropolitan Area Planning Commission met Thursday, July 12, 1984, at 7:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers, 314 West Washington, Jonesboro, Arkansas, to consider the following requests:
MEMBERS PRESENT: Mr. Cooper, Mr. Ball, Mr. White, Mr. Orr, Mr. Vance, Mr. Scott, and Mr. Blalock.
MEMBERS ABSENT: Mrs. Barber.
Others present: Tim Ray, Mike Cameron, Joe Tomlinson, Curt Hodges of the Jonesboro Sun and Betty Marlar.
The minutes of the June meeting were approved as mailed.
#1 Witt Wood requests a rezoning from Residential One (R-1) to Commercial Three (C-3), the following described property: A part of the Southwest Quarter, Southeast Quarter, Section 20, Township 14 North, Range 4 East, Craighead County, Arkansas, containing 5.323 acres more or less. The general location of this property is North of Highland Drive, between Hillcrest Drive and Bernard Street.
A motion was made by Mr. Scott to deny the rezoning based on the study on the Kissinger property to the East of this and zoning on three sides of this property being Residential One, making this spot zoning. Mr. Ball seconded the motion. Voting aye, Mr. Ball, Mr. Orr, Mr. Vance and Mr. Scott. Voting no, Mr. Blalock and abstaining, Mr. White. MOTION DENIED.
#2 Mike McNabb requests preliminary approval of construction plans for Heather Ridge Sub-division, a planned unit development, to be located South of West Matthews Avenue and West of Ferrell Street. The development covers 2.143 acres and contains seventeen units in seventeen buildings, for a density of 7.93 units per acre. The property is zoned Residential Two.
A motion was made by Mr. White, seconded by Mr. Vance to give preliminary approval of the subdivision plans. All members present voting aye. MOTION APPROVED.
