AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO. 776 AND PROVIDE THAT APPLICANTS FOR CERTIFICATES OF COMPETENCY AS ELECTRICIANS SHALL HAVE TO WAIT NINETY DAYS FOR A RE-EXAMINATION, AFTER FAILING TO PASS AN EARLIER EXAMINATION (NOTE: THIS ORDINANCE WAS AMENDED BY ORD-75:2277 ON MARCH 3, 1975)

BE IT ORDAINED AND ENACTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. Section 5 of Ordinance No. 776 of the City of Jonesboro is amended to add the following:
"Whenever any applicant for a Certificate of Competency shall have failed any examination given him upon his application for a Certificate of Competency, he shall be required to wait for any period of time up to and including ninety (90) days, within the discretion of the Board of Examiners, before he may again take an examination for a Certificate of Competency."
SECTION 2. It being found that applicants for Certificates of Competency who fail the examination are immediately making application for re-examination and are given examinations without taking adequate time for study for such re-examinations and the time of the Board of Examiners being uselessly taken and may well result in incompetent persons being issued Certificates of Competency, an emergency is hereby declared to exist and the immediate passage of this ordinance being necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety, this ordinance shall be in effect from and after its passage.
