AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND §1 OF ORDINANCE NO 1857 KNOWN AS THE CIVIL SERVICE ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF JONESBORO, ARKANSAS, DECLARING AN EMERGENCY, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES (NOTE: THIS ORDINANCE WAS AMENDED BY ORD-98:1502 ON MARCH 16, 1998)

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas:
 
Section 1:   That §1 of Ordinance No 1857, the Civil Service Ordinance of the City of Jonesboro is hereby amended to include the following:
 
The provisions of this ordinance shall apply only to certified or uniformed employees of the police and fire departments, and shall not apply to any non-certified or non-uniformed employees of the said departments. This ordinance specifically excludes radio operators, animal control personnel, clerks and secretaries.
 
Section 2:   The City Council finds and declares that the immediate amendment is necessary for the health and welfare of the citizens of Jonesboro. Therefore, an emergency is hereby declared to exist, and the City Council hereby amends Ordinance No 1857, the Civil Service Ordinance, as outlined above; and this Ordinance shall take effect and be in full force from and after its passage and approval.
