CITY COUNCIL AGENDA - May 15, 2000

1. Call to order by Mayor at 6:30 p.m.

2. Roll call by Clerk.

3. Approval of minutes from May 1, 2000 as delivered.

· Presentation honoring the Crowley’s Ridge Girl Scout Troop 193 and Adult Troop Leader, Laura McCain for the completion of a Youth Service Arkansas community service project.

4. City Attorney:

Legal Documents for the 1% Sales Tax

A-1 - Resolution stating the Jonesboro City Council’s intent for calling a special election for a one percent (1%) city sales and use tax; stating the City Council’s priority list for Capital Improvement and other funds collected from said tax; and for other purposes.

A-2 - 3rd Reading - Ordinance providing for the levy of a one percent sales and use tax within the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas; one half (2) will be for general operating purposes; and prescribing other matters pertaining thereto.

A-3 - 3rd Reading - Ordinance calling a Special Election in the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas, on the question of levying a one percent Sales and Use Tax within the City of Jonesboro, prescribing other matters pertaining thereto; and declaring an emergency.

A-4 - 3rd Reading - Ordinance to repeal the City’s Sanitation Domestic Refuse Fee; the Mosquito Control Fee and the 2.1 Mill General City Property Tax upon the approval of a one percent (1%) City Sales and Use Tax at the 2000 Special Election; Establishing said fees upon the abolishment of said tax; and for other purposes.
